The naval marine museum is located in Port Blair. It’s approximately 2 kilometres from the city centre and the museum is situated near Haddo which is the northern end of Port Blair. The museum is easily accessible via rental bikes, hired taxis or local buses. If you are lost then just look for the Andaman Teal House in Port Blair, the museum is located right opposite this spot.

Things To Do In The Samudrika Naval Marine Museum

5 vast rooms packed with stories from a time long ago – that’s what you can expect during your tour of the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum. The excitement begins right as you enter the museum. You are greeted with a skeletal structure of a massive blue whale that was once washed ashore on the island. This relic is a rare spectacle and one that sets the tone for your journey through the marine museum.

  • The First Room will take you through the diverse and mesmerising geographical history of the Andaman Islands. The Andamans is a land not just of beaches, but also limestone caves, lush mangrove forests, mud volcanoes and even an active volcano in Barren Island. Even the beaches are not uniform but are teeming with vibrant and diverse animal and bird species.

  • The Second and Third Rooms are all about marine animals and marine life. The Second Room has a small aquarium with a few species that are truly unique. Here you can spot marine species like parrotfish and the rare and venomous stonefish. The aquarium is well maintained and the fish will enamour you with their colors and fins. It’s a hypnotic sight and one you must not miss.

  • The Third Room deals in all things corals. The Andamans are known for having a vibrant and thriving habitat of corals. The government has also taken sustainability initiatives to preserve the corals and avoid coral bleaching.
