Aberdeen Jetty, Port Blair

About Aberdeen Jetty, Port Blair

Aberdeen Jetty is located within the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, right beside Marina Park in the heart of Port Blair. It serves as the main boarding point for ferries heading to two of the most popular tourist destinations in the Andaman Islands – Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island) and North Bay Island.

Basic Information

  • The jetty is the boarding point for private ferries leaving for Ross Island and North Bay Island. You will cover both islands on the same day as part of the ‘two-island’ tour.

  • Tourists also have the option to cover North Bay Island. Staying overnight on either island is not allowed.

  • Ross Island (officially renamed as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose island) is locally known as the ‘Paris of The East’. The island has colonial ruins, a spellbinding sound and light show and offers a peek into Andaman’s past.

  • North Bay Island is a hub for affordable water sports. You can try snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing and jet skiing here.

Operational Days, Timings and Cost

  • Aberdeen jetty is operational on weekdays and weekends.
  • The first ferry to Ross Island leaves at 8:30 AM. There are frequent ferries operating every 30 minutes after that till 2:00 PM. The last ferry leaves the island at 2:00 PM.
  • The last ferry covering the Ross Island-North Bay- Port Blair circuit arrives back to the island at 4:00 PM.
  • The round trip to both islands costs INR 800/– and upwards for adults. Children (below 12 years) need to pay INR 550/-. There is not ticket fee for infants.
  • You can purchase tickets online for the island tour from private agents or purchase them directly at the counter at Aberdeen jetty.
  • It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach Ross Island and 20 minutes to reach North Bay Island from the jetty.

Important Note For Tourists: The private ferries and speed boats arrive back at Port Blair before sunset. If you have purchased tickets for the light and sound show that happens in Ross Island, then a government ferry will take you to and fro from the island.
