Chatham Jetty located in Chatham Island offers a fast, cheap and convenient option to explore Mount Harriet and North Bay Island. Boarding a ferry at Chatham Jetty in Port Blair will take you to Bamboo Flat jetty, Dundus Point in Chatham Island- which is 3 kilometres downtown of Port Blair. Located on Chatham Island is the iconic and oldest Indian saw mill – Chatham Saw Mill.
Chatham Jetty is also one of the shortest and most efficient routes to enter and explore Middle and North Andaman, making it a preferred choice for both locals and travelers planning to venture deeper into the islands.
There is no entry fee for Chatham Jetty. The ferry ride costs approximately INR 14/- per person. The rates may vary for foreign nationals. For 2 wheelers you will be charged INR 55/- and for 4 wheelers, with no load, you will be charged INR 170/-. If you are a tourist spending over a month in Port Blair, then you can even get a monthly pass at Chatham Jetty.
Vehicle cum passenger ferries ply everyday between Chatham Jetty and Bambooflat. The frequency of these ferries is high with a ferry leaving Chatham Jetty every 30 minutes. The first ferry departs at 5:30 AM IST from Chatham jetty and the last departs at 9:40 PM IST.
Do keep in mind that these schedules and timings are subject to change in case of bad weather conditions.
Waiting Area: A basic shaded waiting area is available for passengers to sit before boarding. Seating is limited during peak hours, so arrive early if you want a spot.
Parking Area: There’s limited parking space for two-wheelers and four-wheelers near the jetty, though it’s not a secured lot.
