About Andaman Karen Craft Centre

Located in Mayabunder, the  Andaman Karen Craft Centre is one of the most culturally rich experiences you can have in Middle Andaman. It’s run by the Karen community, an ethnic group of Burmese origin that has lived in the islands since the early 20th century. The centre showcases their traditional handicrafts—beautiful baskets, mats, and home décor items, all handmade using eco-friendly materials like bamboo and cane.

Each product tells a story of heritage and craftsmanship passed down through generations. You’ll also find a small café nearby serving authentic Karen food, sourced from organic kitchen gardens maintained by the villagers. Just behind the centre lies Webi Village, where you can observe local life and meet the artisans at work.

A visit here isn’t just about buying souvenirs, it’s a chance to connect with one of the Andamans’ most unique and lesser-known communities. If you’re in Mayabunder, this is a stop you shouldn’t miss.
