Main airport at Andaman:

Andaman’s only airport is the Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ) in Port Blair (capital of Andaman & Nicobar Islands). It is named after the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, who spent 10 years as a prisoner at the infamous Cellular Jail.

Night landings are very rare in Port Blair.

Direct flights available from:

  • Delhi
  • Chennai
  • Kolkata
  • Bhubaneswar
  • Bangalore
  • Mumbai
  • Foreign charter flights are also permitted to land at Port Blair, subject to the fulfillment of guidelines 9 of the Director General of Civil Aviation.

Direct flights and take around 2.5 hours. Flights from Delhi fly via Kolkata or Bhubaneswar and take around 5 hours in total. Connecting flights are also available from some destinations in the Indian mainland.

Jet airways, Air India,  Spice Jet, Go-air and Vistara are the main flight operators for the islands.
