Travel by Air to Andaman and Nicobar
The Main Airport at Andaman
Andaman’s only airport is the Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ) in Port Blair (capital of Andaman & Nicobar Islands). It is named after the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, who spent 10 years as a prisoner at the infamous Cellular Jail.
Night landings are very rare in Port Blair.
Direct Flights To Port Blair:
- Delhi
- Chennai

- Bangalore
- Mumbai
- Foreign charter flights are also permitted to land at Port Blair. Just make sure that they are following the guidelines 9 of the Director-General of Civil Aviation.
Direct flights can take around 2.5 to 3 hours. However, if you have layovers or are hopping flights, it may take upto 6-7 hours, so plan wisely!
If you fly via Kolkata or Bhubaneswar, it’ll take you around 2.5 hours in total. However, your flight from Delhi will take around 5 hours. For travelers from other destinations in India, connecting flights are also available!

Remember: There are no night flights to Port Blair!
