One of the biggest resorts on the island, the government-run Dolphin Resort is located on what is probably the perfect spot on Beach No. 5. With palm trees and manicured lawns, sunbeds and shade, this enormous resort is one of those rare ones with bungalows close to the beach.
They offer three categories of rooms, the best being the newer super deluxe bungalows – huge air-conditioned rooms with a TV, a spacious bathroom, and hot water. The Deluxe rooms are similar but smaller, and a great pick for the price. The Semi-Deluxe ones are the smallest housed in joint twin bungalows that share a balcony. The resort organizes fishing, snorkeling, boat trips, and arranges scuba diving trips with dive centers.
The resort also houses an Indian restaurant that serves a reasonably priced buffet for lunch and dinner. However, the only way to book a stay at the Dolphin Resort is through the Andaman Tourism office in Port Blair at least 2 months in advance with a 25% deposit payment. If you prefer concrete buildings and don’t mind the extra effort for booking, this resort undoubtedly offers the best value for money on the island.
5. Sandyy Waves

This resort is an embodiment of everything in Andaman at its finest. Surrounded by lines of mangroves, the design of this place is exquisite. Pristine is definitely not the cheapest place to stay. The resort has an in-house multi-cuisine restaurant with tasty Indian, Chinese and limited seafood. The waiting can be long so it is best to order in advance. There is also a bar which is popular with the locals.
The staff and particularly the owner himself are very helpful. You name the activity and they will arrange for it. They can even offer you a trip to other islands around the area for snorkeling or island hopping. For the lazy ones, the Kalipur Beach is just a stone’s throw away and the snorkeling near Craggy Island is said to be one of the best in North Andaman.
Top Budget Hotels & Resorts in Andaman
1. Breakwater Beach Resort

Breakwater is an eco friendly resort famous for its relaxed atmosphere. It is set in the middle of a palm tree garden and is just a short walk from Beach No. 3. The place is very popular among foreign tourists.
Breakwater is family run and the owner is very friendly, always ready to help in case you need anything. Different activities can be booked here, from snorkeling trips to jungle trekking, fishing, diving or even a short course on learning the local tabla instrument. One can also rent a scooter or a bicycle here.
The resort restaurant offers delicious home made dishes and beverages. If you are not staying at the resort, the homemade pasta is worth stopping for.
2. Elephant and Four Wise Men
Price: INR 752 /night
Location: Ramnagar, Neil Island
Elephant & Four Wise Men is a really special place. Their name is derived from a Russian painting as is their symbol. Set behind a herbal field, just off the main road in Ramnagar, this resort has ten bamboo huts dotted amongst the palms.
Huts made out of eco-friendly materials and colorful ambient lights give the place a magical touch. One can choose between a hut with a sandy floor and lifted bed or a hut with a bed on the natural floor lifted from the ground. All huts are equipped with electricity, mosquito nets and a small porch in front. Bathrooms are shared, with no hot water. The huts are rather small but good for the price. Sleeping underneath a natural roof is special; no fans are necessary due to the airiness of the place.Prices are fixed and non negotiable, during low season the place is closed.
There is a common space in front of the small restaurant, with pillows, swings and hammocks where guests gather to enjoy the pleasant evenings. Sometimes they organize movie screenings in the open garden.
The small restaurant here serves delicious food from international to Indian flavors though portions are small. They don’t sell plastic bottles but do have filter water. The beach is about 150 m away, but if you fancy a good swim, beach No. 3 is a 10 minute walk away. The place has a special vibe, very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is truly the perfect place for escaping reality and the hustle of everyday life to enjoy the true serenity Neil has to offer.
3. Kevin’s Bed and Breakfast

Location: J.N.Road, Delanipur, Port Blair

Long Island is a delightful, pristine island, which is quite off the beaten track. This is one of the small villages within the islands with beautiful beaches and plenty of trekking opportunities. Blue Planet is the only resort in Long Island.
This is an eco-friendly place. The cottages are simple and made with bamboo, the sitting area is earthquake resistant and made from old plastic and glass bottles. The restaurant is simple and has a small menu, food is cooked fresh on order. The coffee and pancakes are a must have.
Go to Blue Planet to experience nature in its pure form. Remember this is not the place for luxury or fancy amenities.
6. Turtle Nest Resort
Location: Kalipur Diglipur, North Andaman
Turtle Nest Resort, located on top of a small hill with a great sea view, is a government accommodation that offers affordable and clean rooms.
